Local resident Teena Hostovich, a partner and executive vice president at Lockton Insurance Brokers, has been selected as a charter member of the President’s Council at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
“I am truly honored to include Teena as a charter member,” said Kennedy Center President Deborah Rutter. “Her guidance, encouragement and advocacy mean the world to me and will be immensely valuable in this capacity. I am inspired by her continued support and look forward to working together to advance the mission of our natural cultural center and the legacy of John F. Kennedy in the months and years to come.”
“Teena is widely recognized as a leader in the insurance industry,” according to a Kennedy Center statement. “Her professional achievements have garnered various awards, including being named one of 50 ‘Women to Watch’ internationally by Business Insurance Magazine and the ‘Top 40 Women in Los Angeles’ by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
“However, it is Teena’s community-oriented philanthropic engagements — largely focused on at-risk families, animal advocacy and professional development of young women — that have earned her the title of Outstanding Corporate Woman by the California State Legislature. She brings a wealth of insight and passion to the arts, and the Kennedy Center is enormously grateful that she has also chosen to share her time, knowledge and philanthropy with us here in Washington.”
Hostovich serves on boards of numerous arts and cultural institutions across the nation, including the American Film Institute’s National Advisory Board, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, where she has served as a chair of the Hollywood Bowl’s Opening Night in three of the past four years. In 2015, she co-chaired the 18th annual Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, which honored comedian Eddie Murphy.
“In addition to her involvement with the Mark Twain Prize, Teena has made generous annual contributions to the Center over the years,” a Kennedy Center spokesperson said. “As a way to formally recognize her extraordinary leadership and generosity, Board Chairman David Rubenstein recently invited Teena to become a charter member of the Kennedy Center’s President’s Council … a council of arts-interested individuals. Members discuss and conceptualize broad artistic and programmatic plans for the future of the institution.”
Said Hostovich: “The Kennedy Center exists for the entire nation as a living memorial and to paraphrase Jacqueline Kennedy, a symbol of the life of and a test of the quality of a nation’s civilization. The Kennedy Center symbolizes so many of the best intrinsic values of America, and I am honored to be involved.”
