The Pasadena Art Alliance held its annual benefit SNAP Portrait recently at Eyeboogie Studios, a production space in downtown Los Angeles. More than 300 people attended the benefit, where 24 unique commissioned photographic portraits created in collaboration with advanced photography students at ArtCenter College of Design. The benefit also included a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bid on five works of art by renowned artists Todd Gray, Mark Laita, Ed Moses, Catherine Opie and Julius Shulman.
Since 1955, the Pasadena Art Alliance has awarded $5.6 million in grants, awards and exhibition funding to Southern California arts institutions. The grants foster an appreciation for contemporary visual arts in Southern California by supporting artists, exhibitions, educational programs (college and graduate) and art-oriented nonprofit organizations. The Pasadena Art Alliance Impact Award, given for the first time last year to commemorate the organization’s 60th anniversary, complements the grants program by honoring organizations that impact youth through contemporary art. Both programs fill a vital funding need for these institutions.
